Volunteer and Donor Opportunities

Thanks for checking in about ways you can help to promote the Mission Statement and goals of The Rebozo Way Project. We’d love volunteers and gift and money donations for the following aspects of the Project. We are primarily supported by your tax-deductible donations, as we are a 501(c)3 public charity, organized for educational purposes. To volunteer, please write us at volunteer@rebozoway.org. To make a donation, please use our DONATION FORM This page was last updated in June 2008.

People who like to network and share enthusiasm, ideas and practicing The Rebozo Way of Life with their own babies and other family and community members -- you can form Rebozo Way groups to educate and support each other as well as others, or incorporate our ideas and ideals in standing groups. We don’t care what you call yourselves, as long as you share in our vision.

Contact other like-minded individuals and groups and share the Rebozo Way written and visual materials and how to wear rebozos, and use rebozos on outings together.

We are now working on creating a database of rebozo wearers and supporters, potential donors and a network of like-minded individuals and groups. We have almost finished with the data entry and now need volunteers to do outreach to the various types of indviduals who share in our vision. We need folks who will coordinate those on the list of rebozo wearers to find out if they want to be in the rebozo wearers network, to give support and help to new and experienced rebozo wearers. Some of the work will be via email and some will be by phone. We are also in the midst of our first major donation campaign, and we need help with outreach, mailing, and database services.

We would also be open to anyone who knows how to create functionability in our site so that folks can interact with each other on the computer through RWP without needing us personally as intermediaries. We really really need a website redo to have a database based website and continue to use our secure server and webstore. We have had volunteers for this project but they always wanted us to give up our webstore and use Paypal. If you know how to work with or create anew an onsite shopping cart and want to help out, please contact us right away.

We need photographs and video footage of you and your babies and children in rebozos, and your comments and enthusiasm to put onto our webpage as well as on flyers, posters, etc. to keep our page fluid and interactive and to promote The Rebozo Way of Life. Please see http://www.mamascasa.com/rebozoway/projects/gallery/ for more details about contributing photos.

We’d like graphic designers to share their skills in creating promotional materials. Right now we have ideas about how to revise our Easy as 1-2-3 Brochure and expand our Safe and Practical Rebozo Wearing Tips. All of our written materials need to be polished up and the contact info updated.

Web masters and programmers who can help to maintain, update, and add to our webpage would be greatly appreciated. Our greatest need now is to update our donation process, convert our donation form into a functional form, and to upload all of the photos from our Photography Show and many more slides onto our webstore so that they are more easily accessible to anyone who wants to use them

We’d like a volunteer coordinator of our REPs (Rebozo Way Educators of Parenting Practices), to network, coordinate referrals, share beneficial ways of promoting the use of rebozos and other traditional baby carriers, and generally take care of all of our hard working, dedicated REPs who keep The Rebozo Way of Life going at the grass roots level. We greatly appreciate the efforts of our last REP liason who had to resign to spend more time with her family.

We want people who’d like to sponsor native midwives, healers and curanderas to come and participate in conferences or give lecture or workshops as Rebozo Way educational events and fundraisers. We want people with advertising and public relations experience who can coordinate these phases of the Project, find us free ways to advertise and promote our goals, etc. We want grantwriters to help us get funding to continue with our many projects to promote The Rebozo Way of Life. One of our priorities is to get funding for our Photo Show.

We’d like donations of professional quality slide film, still cameras with zoom lenses (point and shoot, SLR and Rangefinders), digital cameras and software, and donations earmarked for processing of these slides, to continue to create the Rebozo Way photography book and more shows.

We’d like people with connections in the publishing world, or those with interest and ideas for this, to research and make contacts regarding getting our photography book published.

We’d like people to seek out social service agencies and other arenas that would benefit from knowledge about the Rebozo Way of Life and make contacts with them, show videos, provide support, etc. We’d like people who are bicultural (Latin American/Northamerican) who can act as bridges between cultures as Rebozo Way representatives.

We need a van that we can travel into Mexico and farther south for video and photo projects, a van that can comfortably fit 5 or 6 people and luggage for our educational tours, in the same areas. We need travel agents or other nonprofit organizations or others who do tours to indigenous areas of the world to donate part of the charge for these tours to The Rebozo Way Project, and/ or to give us the info to make arrangements with folks who want to go on these tours and donate part of the fee, or a small additional fee, to the Project. We also need orgs and individuals who know about setting up educational tours to share info with us.

We’d like video equipment, one or more cameras, and editing equipment, state of the art; preferably a Sony VX 2000 or Canon GL1, Mac G4 or G5 computer and Final Cut Pro editing software, to be given or loaned to us. We also need volunteer camera and sound people and editors to help us at various phases of upcoming projects.

We have set up a Rebozo Way kit for conferences and workshops to make it easier for volunteers to spread the Rebozo Way of Life at these events. And we need people (and babies!) to man booths and be our representatives at prenatal and parenting events, clinics, and other locations.

We'd also like people to send out bulk mailings, and correspond with others online about the Rebozo Way (many or few can share these tasks.)

We’d like you to remember that you are living The Rebozo Way of Life when you are willing to hang onto community and family ties, look for loving and honest solutions to conflict, contribute to a bigger vision of what we can be as members of the world community, and when we include our babies and children in the activities and tasks that make up our daily lives. Thank you again for your interest in contributing.

To follow through on any of the above opportunities, please contact us at: volunteer@rebozoway.org, or by mail, phone or fax at the numbers listed at the bottom of this page.
