Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding Videos

The Mother and Child Health and Education Trust, in association with UNICEF Maharashtra, has produced a new 10 step video series to support this year's World Breastfeeding Week 2010 campaign.takes and takes great pleasure in presenting their new website Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding:

  1. watch the video Have a written breastfeeding policy that is routinely communicated to all health care staff.
  2. watch the video Train all health care staff in skills necessary to implement this policy.
  3. watch the video Inform all pregnant women about the benefits and management of breastfeeding.
  4. watch the video Help mothers initiate breastfeeding within a half-hour of birth.
  5. watch the video Show mothers how to breastfeed and how to maintain lactation, even if they should be separated from their infants.
  6. watch the video Give newborn infants no food or drink other than breast milk unless medically indicated.
  7. watch the video Practice rooming- in - allow mothers and infants to remain together - 24 hours a day.
  8. watch the video Encourage breastfeeding on demand.
  9. watch the video Give no artificial teats or pacifiers (also called dummies or soothers) to breastfeeding infants.
  10. watch the video Foster the establishment of breastfeeding support groups and refer mothers to them on discharge from the hospital or clinic.
